Russia will annex four regions of Ukraine on Friday.
Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman for the Kremlin’s office of the Russian President, said the four regions of Ukraine would formally become part of Russia with the signing of President Vladimir Putin’s letter of acceptance.
These include Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia. After the signing ceremony in the Kremlin, Putin will deliver a speech and meet with Moscow-appointed administrators in these regions of Ukraine.
Ukraine protested strongly with a warning.
On the other hand, Ukraine has warned that it will be strongly opposed.
Ukraine’s President Zelensky has called an emergency meeting of his high defense officials and politicians on Friday following the Kremlin’s announcement.
Zelensky said that the territory occupied by Russia belongs exclusively to Ukraine. Ukraine has opposed the referendum from the beginning.
Russian officials say that in the five-day referendum in these regions, more than 90 percent of votes have been voted in favor of including them in Russia.
Putin’s decision means Moscow will annex the vast territory occupied by eastern and southern Ukraine. This is 15 percent of the total land of Ukraine.
Western countries told public opinion as a sham.
Western countries strongly condemned this referendum of Russia, calling it a mere sham. Said that this plebiscite has been held at gunpoint.
Let us tell you that in 2014, the Crimean peninsula of Ukraine was also annexed by Russia by adopting a similar process.
Meanwhile, the United Nations strongly condemned Russia’s announcement of annexing four regions of Ukraine, including Luhansk, into Russia, saying it would prove dangerous.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that it is too little to be condemned.
Gas leak case sabotage result.
NATO says that it is the result of sabotage, on the incident of damage to two pipelines of the Nord Stream in the Baltic Sea and leaking large amounts of gas from them.
NATO said on Thursday it would retaliate for any attack on the 30-member body’s critical infrastructure. He said the gas leak caused damage to shipping and the environment.
The European Union (EU) has also erupted. He also warned of retaliation. EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell said the available information and evidence clearly showed that the leak was intentional.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the cause of leakages from pipelines needed to be found. Russia, on the other hand, has denied allegations of sabotage.
