According to the IWSR drinks market analysis, Flipkart and Amazon are seeing considerable gains in the alcohol market in India being $ 27.2 billion. The governments of West Bengal and Odisha have said that Flipkart Diageo-owned alcohol home delivery mobile app could connect with Hipbar as a technology service provider.

According to the letter, Flipkart customers will be allowed to use Hipber’s application on the e-commerce giant’s platforms. According to a source related to the case, the arrangement will allow Flipkart customers to order their favorite liquor which will be delivered after collecting from the Hipbar retail outlet.

Diageo India has a 26 percent stake in Hipbar. However, there was no immediate response from Flipkart about this. It is noteworthy that in June, it was reported that Amazon has taken clearance to deliver liquor in West Bengal. In addition, Swiggy and Zomato have started delivery of alcohol in some cities. In fact, people have moved out of their homes to avoid corona infections, leading to increased demand for home delivery of alcohol at home.

In recent months, Amazon has expanded many businesses in India. It started its food delivery service in parts of Bangalore in May and a month later it got approval to sell and deliver liquor in West Bengal.
