Fearing The Ban Of FATF, Pakistan Is Scared
Fearing the ban of FATF, Pakistan is scared, Imran said – our economy will be ruined. As the time for the meeting of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in October this year is approaching, the restlessness of the Government of Pakistan is increasing. The uneasiness is that Prime Minister Imran Khan was forced to say clearly that if the FATF banned Pakistan, his country’s economy would be destroyed.
Imran said, economy will be destroyed
The impact of the speeding up of the meeting of the Financial Action Task Force is visible on the PM of Pakistan. In an interview to a private channel, Imran Khan said that India has been trying to get FATF banned in Pakistan for the last two years. If this ban is imposed then Pakistan’s economy could be destroyed. Fearing the ban of FATF, the situation in Pakistan can be similar to Iran, which no international financial institution would want to do business.
India will not back down
On the other hand, India has clearly said that it will not back down from its campaign to impose international sanctions on countries that support terrorism. India has also indicated that in recent times, the way Pakistan has admitted that many terrorists are in their country, it will also raise it loudly on the international stage.
Pakistan succumbed to international pressure
Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar took a sharp dig at him in a seminar on Friday without naming Pakistan. He said, ‘It is the result of international pressure on the issue of terrorism that a country has to accept that it is helping and training international terrorist organizations. Referring to the terrorist attack on America in 2001 and Mumbai in 2008, the External Affairs Minister said that the FATF needs to take tough measures.
Who will save Pakistan
There may be a sharp fall in the Pakistani rupee. The rupee depreciation can make electricity, gas, oil everything expensive. This is the second statement of the Pakistani PM in the last three days in which he has expressed his concern about the FATF ban. Experts believe that Pakistan needs the support of at least three countries to avoid the ban at the FATF meeting in October 2020.
Hypocrisy
Pakistan was put on the gray list two years ago and was instructed to take 50 steps along with stopping terrorist funding. Most of the countries were not satisfied with the report submitted by Pakistan in the February 2020 meeting too, but Pakistan got help from Malaysia, Turkey and China and it was saved from the banned list. Now that the days of the upcoming meeting are coming to a close, Pakistan is pretending to act on the terrorists.
