Farooq And Omar Raised Issue of Restoration Of 370

Farooq and Omar raised the issue of restoration of 370, seek full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir before assembly elections.

NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah have again started chanting for the restoration of Article 370 as soon as they reach Srinagar from Delhi after the all-party meeting.

He has demanded full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir before the assembly elections.

Talking to reporters at his residence, NC President Dr. Farooq said that the People’s Alliance for Gupkar (PAGD) has not shied away from its cause anywhere.

Everyone has insisted on the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A. What happened in the meeting, what we talked about, and what to do next.

I will first discuss this with my party leaders in the PAGD meeting. Only after that, I will give any statement regarding the meeting. One thing is certain that the Center has always followed its footsteps.

He said that the country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had promised a plebiscite, but he later turned back.

After this, before the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir in the year 1996, then Prime Minister Narasimha Rao had talked about giving something from independence to autonomy, saying that the sky is the limit.

He made this promise in the House. What happened to it later? There is a feeling of mistrust towards the Centre, he said.

The Center must remove it, does it or does it want to allow the feeling of distrust to persist. Former Union Minister Dr. Karan Singh also said that Jammu and Kashmir should be given statehood first.

The Prime Minister has promised, but our experience tells something else.

Dr. Farooq said that the meeting is the first step towards normalizing the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and taking forward the political process.

Everyone has put forth their point of view in the meeting. Will the PZD end now, then he said that no, there is nothing like this.

Why would PAGD end? Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the invitation for the meeting was not received by the PAGD, all the parties had got different invitations.

All the leaders had gone. Had the PAGD been invited, then only one leader would have gone.

In the meeting, we have talked on the basis of our own party policies, but no one has neglected the agenda of PAGD.

Omar said that we made it clear in the meeting that whatever happens, we will take back Article 370. We will fight legal, and political battles.

Abolition of 370 was BJP’s agenda and it took 70 years to complete it. Now if it takes us seven days or 70 weeks, months or years to bring it back, we will fight for it.

In the meeting, only Muzaffar Hussain Baig and Congress’s Ghulam Nabi Azad refused to talk on 370 being sub-judice in the court, but both of them are not members of PAGD.

The disputed structure of Ayodhya was a matter under consideration in the court, so did the BJP never talk about it.
