Farooq Abdullah Is Struggling In Leading National Conference
Farooq Abdullah is struggling to lead National Conference at the crossroads of politics due to contradiction. The National Conference has itself got confused by keeping pace with the changed political atmosphere. Almost all its leaders, including the top leadership of the party, are outside the administrative restrictions, but there are two boats of policy ideas flowing inside the party.
The party faction wants to proceed with the changed situation, while the other faction is still stuck on the situation before August 5. In order to bridge these differences, party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah himself has taken over the command himself.
Farooq’s dialogue with other parties and then repeating the Gupakar Declaration was part of the campaign to keep the radical faction together. At the same time, the top leadership also showed a desire to find the middle path. Even former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has made it clear that he does not see his future in any kind of politics without India.
According to the National Conference watchers, after the implementation of Jammu Kashmir Reorganization Act 2019, there is a lot of churn in the National Conference on the issue of furthering the political activities and political agenda of the party in Kashmir.
In the process, leaders such as Nasir Aslam Wani and Tanveer Sadiq are engaged in an exercise to bring about changes in the NC political agenda. On the other hand, leaders like Aga Syed Ruhullah, Mohammad Shafi Udi, Abdul Rahim Rathar are still stuck on the old stand.
Kashmir affairs expert Ejaz Ahmad Warr said the PDP’s infighting has been made public. Differences are also emerging in the National Conference. The hardline class of NC is curbing the drive to move forward. It is not just about Farooq and Omar to resent it. Therefore, secretaries can consider the declaration as a way of keeping the organization united.
The article was printed as per Omar’s will
A section of NC leaders are in favor of restoring the state’s status and moving forward on the issue of constitution of the Legislative Assembly by compromising with the changed situation. That is why the same group had planned in March by writing articles in local newspapers in a planned manner and gave an idea of agreement with the changed situation.
It is said that this article was printed by Omar’s will. Some special leaders of the party including Aga Syed Ruhulla objected to these. Even asked to separate from NC. Omar later clarified that the articles are the personal opinion of these leaders.
Questions from Basharat Bukhari
Former Revenue Minister Basharat Bukhari, who left the PDP and came to the National Conference, has also asked that it is okay to make the Gupta declaration an agenda, but what will be the way to achieve it. He has even said that if the party leaders want to move ahead by making the door of some concessions, this is not acceptable.
