On the first day of the convention, Ashok Chavan, while answering a question, made it clear that Congress is a secular party, but it does not mean that it is anti-Hindu.

According to him, this propaganda for Congress is done by the opposition parties. Congress will fight this propaganda.

Opposition to the candidature of Imran Pratapadhi.

Congress Minority Cell President Imran Pratapgarhi is being nominated for the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra.

He is also being accused that in the near future local body elections in Maharashtra, Congress has done the same thing only to unilaterally convert the votes of Muslims to their side.

An outsider candidate like Pratapgarhi has been given a ticket from Maharashtra. Imran Pratapgarhi is known for his shero-Shayari and speech to take a sharp jibe at BJP as well as Hindutva.

His candidature from Maharashtra is being opposed even within Congress. The echo of this protest is also being heard in the state Congress session.

Ashok Chavan also admitted that complaints are being received from the party workers from district level to state level about the Congress getting less importance in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.

But he said that this is not such a big issue. It will be resolved amongst themselves.
