Dalit Votes Can Guarantee Victory In Bihar Assembly Elections

Dalit Votes Can Guarantee Victory In Bihar Assembly Elections, vying to grab votes. Bihar Assembly Election 2020: Bihar is estimated to have a 16 percent vote bank for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. Political parties are engaged in various measures to grab this vote bank, which is guaranteed to win the assembly elections.

Many new and old Dalit leaders are active. The movement is fast. In particular, there has been competition among the leaders who have declared themselves as the leaders of this class. All mainstream parties are leading some faces in this strategy.

Competition to vote bank

The RJD once claimed 16 percent of the Dalit vote bank in Bihar. When the power came in the hands of Nitish Kumar, apart from the extremely backward castes, several schemes were launched for the social, educational, and economic upliftment of Dalits.

This class continued to join the JDU. If JDU was in NDA, this alliance benefited from this. Before the 2020 elections, there is a competition to prove ‘real interference’ on this vote bank. Parties like LJP and Hum are more active in this game.

Pretending to be friendly in election season

The Grand Alliance is also eyeing the Dalit votes. Dalit writer and thinker Dr. Dilip Ram explain that every political party tries to get this vote bank in elections. Just say that this vote is like a ‘hot cake’. After collecting votes, no one is aware of giving them happiness, convenience, and respect.

Only during the election season political parties pretend to be friendly. Of the total Scheduled Caste voters in Bihar, 70 percent are Ravidas, Musahar, and Paswan. That is an effective vote bank in elections. In the greed of this vote, there are claims and promises and nothing happens.

Voters are more mature than before

In the election season, everyone is trying to address this marginalized Dalit population for the equation of victory from the level of NDA and Grand Alliance. Prominent leaders like Ram Vilas Paswan, Chirag Paswan, Jeetan Ram Manjhi, Babu Jagjivan Ram’s daughter, Dr. Meera Kumar, Shyam Rajak, try to maintain this vote bank during the elections.

Political thinker Dr. AK Singh says that over time the angle of politics related to Scheduled Castes has also changed. This section will decide the direction of victory and defeat in this election. Scheduled Caste voters have also matured more than before and will not make a mistake in identifying their real well-wishers.
