Cyclone Nivar: Hurricane Nivar moving towards Tamil Nadu, PM Modi talks to Chief Minister.

There is a possibility of a fast-moving cyclone Nivar towards Tamil Nadu hitting the coast on 25 November. During this time the wind will move at a speed of 120 kmph.

The state government held a review meeting to deal with the threat of cyclone. In this, the district administrations have been instructed to be prompt and ready.

With this, inter-district bus services have been suspended in seven districts from Tuesday till further orders. Trains have also been partially or completely canceled in some districts.

At the same time, in Andhra Pradesh, major departments have been kept on high alert in most of the districts of coastal and Rayalaseema regions after warning of heavy rain in the next three days.

PM Modi has spoken to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and the Chief Minister of Puducherry regarding the situation of cyclone prevention.

PM Modi tweeted, ‘The Center has assured all possible help. I pray for the safety and welfare of the people living in the affected areas.

A bulletin issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) states that the low pressure in the Bay of Bengal in the southwest and southeast was located 520 kilometers east-southeast of Puducherry and 560 kilometers southeast of Chennai at 11.30 am on Monday.

And it is moving west-northwest at a speed of 11 kilometers per hour. It is more likely to turn into a cyclone in the next 24 hours.

It may hit the coast of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry at a speed of 100–110 km per hour between Karaikal and Mamallapuram on 25 November and can increase to 120 kmph.

Due to the impact of the cyclone, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry may receive heavy rains from 24 to 26 November.

Due to this, a high alert has been issued in Nagapattinam district and fishermen have been advised not to go to sea till 26 November.

Chief Minister Palaniswamy, in a review meeting, has instructed his cabinet colleagues and officials to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures.

Pudukottai, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Villupuram and Chengalpattu districts have been specifically asked to be prepared.

Preparations for handling are complete, NDRF deployed

In view of the danger, six teams of NDRF are being deployed in Cuddalore and two in Chennai with the necessary equipment.

Revenue Minister RB Udayakumar and Power Minister Thangamani have expressed satisfaction over the preparedness to deal with the apprehensive disaster.

He told reporters that all arrangements have been made and the Corona Protocol is being taken care of in the relief camps.

Meanwhile, an NDRF official said in New Delhi that 30 teams have been prepared for relief and rescue operations in the areas affected by the cyclone.

Of these, 12 teams have been pre-deployed and 18 teams have been put on standby.
