Complaint of forced conversion in Kerala High court: The High court orders to produce wife and son of the petitioner in court.

According to Gilbert, his wife Shiny and son Akash, 13, were abducted by Muslim neighbors and taken to the Tarbiatul Islam Church in Kozhikode.

Kochi: The High Court has ordered to produce the wife and son on a complaint that they were abducted and forcibly converted.

The action was taken on a petition filed by PT Gilbert, a former CPM branch committee member from Malappuram Thenjipalam, demanding the release of his wife and son.

Justice K Krishnan directed to produce the girl and her son within a week. A division bench comprising Justice Vinod Chandran and Justice MR Anitha sought an explanation from the government.

Complaint of forced conversion: The petition will be reconsidered on July 7.

His wife Shiny and son Akash (13) were abducted by their neighbors and taken to the Tarbiyathul Islam Sabha in Kozhikode.

The complainant pointed out that the complaint was lodged with senior police officials but no action was taken.

Gilbert, a native of Iritti, Kannur, lives in a rented house in Thenjipalam. The family used to drive a taxi. He says his wife and daughter were abducted by neighbors Yunus, Naseema, and Bushra.

He had denied their offer of a house of his own and Rs 25 lakh if he converted to Islam. When he went to work on June 9, they and some others went home and abducted Shiny and her son.

After filing a complaint with the police, it was found that he was in the Tarbiathul Islam Sabha in Kozhikode. – Says Gilbert.

Went there and talked to Shiny but the church officials were present. It is feared that his wife and son will be deported after converting to Islam.

It is doubtful whether terrorist groups are involved in this. There are reports that converts are being used for terrorist attacks.

Loknath Behra, the former DGP, had said that there were ISIS sleeping cells in Kerala.

The petition seeks that the case is investigated by the CBI or the NIA and that forced conversion be declared a violation of constitutional freedom of religion.
