Central government to investigate lapse in PM Modi’s security, Home Ministry formed a committee under the chairmanship of Security Secretary.
The central government is in the mood to take strict action against those responsible for the security lapse with the Prime Minister’s convoy in Punjab.
The Union Home Ministry has constituted a three-member committee to investigate this.
It will be headed by Secretary (Security) Sudhir Saxena, while Joint Director Intelligence Bureau (IB) Balbir Singh and Special Protection Group (SPG) IG S. Suresh will be its member.
Earlier in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all the ministers condemned the incident of security lapse and called for strict action against the guilty.

After the lapse in the security of the Prime Minister, in the first cabinet meeting held on Thursday, all the ministers told the need to take this matter seriously.
Some ministers said that the action to be taken in this matter should become an example so that in the future no one can try to play with the security of the Prime Minister.
After the meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that soon tough and big decisions will be taken in this matter.
Home Ministry has summoned a report from the Punjab government.
The Home Ministry has already sought a report from the Punjab government on the entire matter.
After gathering complete information, the Ministry of Home Affairs will take appropriate action based on the facts, but he did not elaborate on the drastic and big steps.
According to Anurag Thakur, people across the country are reacting to the lapse in the security of the Prime Minister and some of them have even approached the Supreme Court.
Expressing confidence in the judiciary, he said that necessary steps will definitely be taken in such a case.

The Prime Minister also met President Ram Nath Kovind and briefed him about the entire incident of security lapse.
Later, in a tweet, the Prime Minister thanked the President for his good wishes and concern, describing him as the source of his power.
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu also called up the Prime Minister and inquired about the incident.
Channi government also formed a two-member committee for investigation.
The Punjab government has constituted a two-member high-level committee to inquire into the security lapses during the Prime Minister’s visit to Ferozepur.
The committee, comprising former acting Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Mehtab Singh Gill and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Anurag Verma, has been asked to submit its report within three days.
As soon as the committee was formed, Justice Gill sent questions to all the police officers related to security, including Director General of Police Siddharth Chattopadhyay.
But due to the sensitivity of the matter, he declined to divulge more.
