Captain Amarinder Singh will join BJP on Monday, and the merger of PLC with the BJP is also possible.

The speculation of former Punjab Chief Minister and Punjab Lok Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh joining the BJP has been stamped.

Captain Amarinder Singh will join the BJP and will join the Bharatiya Janata Party on 19 September in Delhi. This information has been given by PLC spokesperson Preetpal Singh Balliawal.

According to the news agency, the spokesperson said that Punjab Lok Congress will also merge with the BJP on September 19 i.e. on Monday.

The 80-year-old captain resigned.

80-year-old Captain Amarinder Singh quit the Congress last year and formed the PLC after abruptly resigning from the chief minister’s post.

PLC spokesperson Preetpal Singh Balliawal said that seven former MLAs who joined the PLC and a former MP will also join the BJP on Monday.

He said that other PLC office-bearers and district president will join BJP in a separate program in Chandigarh next week.

BJP’s Punjab unit leader Harjit Singh Grewal had said in July that Amarinder Singh had expressed his intention to merge his party with the BJP before going to London.

Grewal had said at that time that the former chief minister would announce the merger after returning from London. Singh, a two-time chief minister, is a descendant of the erstwhile Patiala royal family.

He had resigned from the Congress last year after Charanjit Singh Channi was made the chief minister.
