Breaking News: Firing in two schools in Brazil, three dead; 11 injured.

A shooter armed with a semi-automatic pistol and a bulletproof vest shot dead two teachers and a student, while wounding 11 others, at two schools in southeastern Brazil on Friday.

Officials gave this information. The state public security secretariat said in a statement that the shootings took place with elementary and middle school students and a private school.

Both are located on the same street in the small town of Aracruz, in the state of Espirito Santo.

A shooter wearing a bulletproof vest stormed two schools in Espirito Santo in southeastern Brazil, killing two teachers and a student and wounding 11 others.

The two attacks happened around 10 a.m. local time on Friday in the small town of Aracruz, located about 80 kilometers north of Vitoria, the capital of Espirito Santo state.

Espirito Santo’s head of public security, Marcio Celente, said the attacker was a 16-year-old boy who covered his face, making it difficult to identify him. He has been arrested.

Officials said the gunman was dressed in military fatigues and opened fire inside a private and a public school.

The governor of Espirito Santo, Renato Casagrande, told a news conference that the attacker was a former student of the school.

We have information that he is a psychopath and is undergoing treatment. We will continue to investigate the matter and will gather more information soon.

One person injured in the attack had to be airlifted by helicopter to Serra, a large city about 60 km south of Aracruz.

He said that he noted that the shooter entered the teachers’ lounge after breaking the lock on the public school.

Governor Renato Casagrande expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and said that all local security forces are engaged in the investigation.

Brazil’s President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva called the shooting an “unwarranted tragedy”. Lula da Silva will take over as the new President of Brazil on January 1.

He will replace the current President Jair Bolsonaro. Lula said, ‘I offer my support to Governor Casagrande to investigate the case and to console the communities around the 2 affected schools.
