BJP won all 13 seats in Diu Municipal Council Elections. BJP won the elections to the Diu Municipal Council in the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman, and Diu.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) snatched the local body rule from Congress, winning all 13 seats. Congress did not field a candidate on a single seat.

The BJP had earlier won six seats unopposed, while the remaining seven seats were contested by independent candidates and the results were declared on Saturday, an official said.

Diu District Magistrate Favvarman Brahma said that the voting for these seven seats was held on July 7.

Historic return after 15 years.

Party’s DNH, DD President Dipesh Tandel described the BJP’s return to power in Diu Municipal Council as historic after 15 years.

He said that people have shown their trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the BJP has benefited due to the ongoing development works in the area.

Let us tell you that out of the 13 seats in Diu, BJP candidates had already won the elections from undisputed Russia in 6 seats.

While on 7 seats the votes were cast on 7th July, the result of which was declared today. After 15 years, the BJP has once again captured its 13 seats.

Congress may face a big setback, 3 sitting and 3 former MPs are in touch with TMC: Sources

Ahead of the start of the monsoon session of Parliament, sources said on Saturday that three sitting Lok Sabha members of the Congress and three former Rajya Sabha members are in touch with the TMC.

Sources said that they have been in touch with the TMC leadership for some time, however, the party is yet to take a decision on this matter. He told that one MP is from North India and one from South India.

In the presidential election, sources close to the TMC said that West Bengal’s ruling party is confident that some opposition MLAs will vote in favor of Yashwant Sinha.

He (Sinha) will get the support of over 220 MLAs of the 294-member state assembly. Sources said the party is hopeful that some opposition MPs from the state may also vote in favor of Sinha.

To expand the party outside West Bengal, the TMC has appointed former Meghalaya CM and recent joiners Mukul Sangma, cricketer-turned-politician Kirti Azad, and Babul Supriyo as spokespersons.

Sources also said that many opposition parties have started looking for a joint candidate for the Vice Presidential election like in the Presidential election.
