BJP meeting at JP Nadda’s house on tickets in West Bengal, Amit Shah also present: Assembly Election 2021.

The BJP is gearing up before the assembly elections in five states, including West Bengal.

The names of candidates for the West Bengal elections are being discussed at the residence of party president JP Nadda. Senior state leaders, party in-charge, and co-in-charge for West Bengal attended the meeting.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also arrived at Nadda’s residence. BJP national vice president Mukul Roy, national general secretary, and state in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya.

Co-in-charge Arvind Menon, state unit president Dilip Ghosh and former minister Suvendu Adhikari are present, according to the news agency.

In this meeting, the candidates of the first and second phases of the Bengal elections can be stamped.

According to West Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh, the party-state unit has shortlisted an average of four to five names in each seat in the initial two phases for the assembly elections in Bengal.

The decision on the last name of these will be taken today. Candidates’ names will be decided on 60 seats. The first phase of elections in Bengal is to be held on 27 March.

The second phase of voting is to be held on April 1. Elections are to be held for 30–30 seats in both phases.

Dilip Ghosh said that we have got 120-140 names for the first two phases from our district units. Apart from this, there are hundreds of other names.

We kept 20-25 names for each seat and shortlisted about 4-5 names per seat out of them. Some names will be removed and after that, the party leadership will take the final decision on the remaining names.

Elections will be held in Bengal from March 27 to April 29 in eight phases. At the same time, elections are to be held in Assam in three phases from 27 March to 6 April.

Puducherry, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu will go to the polls on April 6 in a single phase. Results of the five states will come on May 2.

Earlier on Wednesday, a meeting was held at the residence of Home Minister Amit Shah. The meeting was also attended by BJP President JP Nadda.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, BJP Assam State President Ranjit Das, AGP chief and state minister Atul Bora, UPPL president Pramod Boro, BJP leader, and state minister Hemant Vishwa Sarma.
