Attempts to create an atmosphere for assembly elections: The central government is considering convening this meeting from June 24-25.

In August 2019, the Center abrogated Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into two union territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Since then, this will be the first all-party meeting of the Center with the political parties of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the information, in this meeting, the central government can call leaders of other parties including NC President and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, President of PDP, and former CM Mehbooba Mufti.

It is worth noting that recently, former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah had indicated talks with the Center and said that all options are open.

During this, he had said that if the central government calls for talks to normalize the situation in Kashmir, he will definitely go.

Let us inform you that the news of the all-party meeting has come at a time when Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha held a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Friday.

Official sources said the agenda of the meeting between Sinha and Shah was focused on development-related issues and the current situation in the union territory.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the ongoing development projects in Jammu and Kashmir and directed the officials to ensure that the refugees from PoK and West Pakistan get the benefits of the refugee package at the earliest.

Apart from this, he also directed the officers to strengthen Panchayati Raj and Urban Local Bodies institutions by ensuring proper seating arrangement, equipment, and other necessary resources for the training of their members and their smooth functioning.

Regarding the issues of the farmers, he directed the Jammu and Kashmir administration to ensure that all the farmers get the benefits of the schemes being run including the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana.
