Five players who could be removed from the Asia Cup roster, ranging from legendary to punters. The start date of the 2025 Asia Cup is set for September 9. The tournament is scheduled to be held in two cities in the UAE – Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The Indian squad for the tournament is yet to be announced.
Previously, there were different reactions from the giants regarding the selection of players. In such a situation, know which players can be cut off from the Indian squad for the Asia Cup.
Five players that selectors may bench for the 2025 Asia Cup
1. Yashasvi Jaiswal
Topping the list is Team India’s young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored plenty of runs on the England tour. Meanwhile, he had also performed brilliantly in IPL 2025, but Yashasvi hardly got a place in the squad in the Asia Cup as India has an opening pair in the form of Abhishek-Samson for the opener.
2. Rishabh Pant
Team India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant fractured his leg on the England tour, which will keep him out of cricket for at least 6 weeks. In other words, Pant will not be in the Indian team for the Asia Cup.
3. Rinku Singh
Third on the list is Rinku Singh, who could be dropped from the Indian squad for the Asia Cup. The left-handed batsman may get a chance to play against Australia for India-A. In 2024, Rinku last scored a half-century against Bangladesh in October.
4. KL Rahul
India’s top pick for the Asia Cup wicketkeeping position will be Sanju Samson.. Jitesh Sharma and Dhruv Jurel could be part of the squad as backups. In such a situation, KL Rahul is finding it difficult to get a place in the Indian team.
5. Dhruv Jurel
The opportunity Dhruv Jurel got in the Indian team for the Asia Cup looks difficult, as the first choice for wicketkeeper will be Sanju Samson, while Jitesh Sharma is also there as the second option.
