5000 Schools In Kerala Will Get 100Mbps FTTH

5000 schools in Kerala will get 100Mbps internet connectivity: Agreement between KITE and BSNL.

Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) and BSNL on Wednesday joined hands to provide 100 Mbps broadband internet connectivity to high schools, higher secondary schools, and vocational higher secondary schools in the state.

This will now benefit about 5,000 schools in the state.

Eight Mbps FTTH connection to be upgraded to 100 Mbps.

The current 8 Mbps FTTH (Fiber to the Home) connection in Kerala schools will now be upgraded to 100 Mbps which is 12.5 times faster.

On the MoU Anwar Sadat, CEO, KITE, and CV Vinod, CGM, Kerala Circle, BSNL signed in the presence of V. Sivan Kutty, Education Minister.

45 thousand classes will get the benefit: 5000 schools in Kerala will get 100Mbps internet connectivity.

With improved ICT-enabled education, 45,000 classrooms will benefit from 100 Mbps broadband internet connectivity in 4685 schools involved in the Hi-Tech School Project.

As part of the Hi-Tech School Project in 2018, KITE deployed laptops, projectors, USB speakers, and networking in these classrooms.

Presently Samagra Resource Portal and Sahitam Counseling Portal are available in offline mode in all classes.

All digital/online systems can now be used more effectively with the availability of 100 Mbps connection in classrooms.

It will also enable the availability of the KITE VICTORS educational channel in all classrooms.

5000 schools in Kerala will get 100Mbps internet connectivity: BSNL increased Mbps broadband connection.

BSNL has agreed to increase the broadband connection in schools to 100Mbsps at no extra cost, which had earlier provided an 8Mbps broadband connection.

Schools can use 3300 GB of data per month.

Each school can now access 3300 GB of data per month as per this plan.

State Education Minister V. Sivan Kutty said, “This step will really strengthen the state’s initiative towards creating a knowledge society.”
