Testing of the indigenous light tank Zorawar begins, expected to be given to the Indian Army by April.

Testing of India’s first indigenous light tank Zorawar has started. The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) hopes that it can be handed over to the Indian Army by April.

Defense officials said that the work of making the light tank with its new engine has started.

The tank has been transported to a distance of more than 100 kilometers. It is expected to be delivered to the Indian Army by April this year.

The Army has placed the order for the production and supply of 59 Zorawar light tanks to DRDO. These are being made in collaboration with Larsen & Toubro.

This light tank was first to be handed over to the Indian Army by December for testing in desert and high-altitude locations. But, the project has been delayed due to a delay in engine supply from Germany.

The Indian Army is going to float a tender to buy 295 more light tanks under a separate program. For this, six to seven companies will present their light tanks.

The Indian Army is fully supporting this mega project. It is working with private sector companies to produce world-class weapon systems.

According to officials, the Indian Army is working on a light tank project to improve its mobility and maneuver capabilities in the Ladakh sector.

China has also deployed a large number of its light tanks here.
