Wipro To Buyback Of 9,500 Crore Shares From Dec 29

Wipro to buyback of 9,500 crore shares, offer will start on December 29 and close on January 11, 2021.

Information technology major Wipro said on Tuesday that its Rs 9,500 crore share buyback (buy back shares) offer would start on December 29 and close on January 11, 2021.

The company said that its shareholders had approved a plan to buy back 23.75 crore shares of the company at a price of Rs 400 per share last month. This purchase will cost a total of Rs 9,500 crore.

“The company has received final comment on the letter sent by the Securities and Exchange Board of India to the buyback offer on December 21, 2020,” Wipro said in a regulatory notice.

The company will issue this offer letter to eligible shareholders.

The company has set a record date of December 11, 2020 for buyback eligibility.

The regulatory notice stated that the offer to buy back the shares would start on 29 December 2020 and close on 11 January 2021.

The last date for bid settlement in the stock market will be on or before 20 January 2021.

Share buyback was also announced by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)

Share buybacks were also announced by Wipro’s rival company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). TCS is doing share buyback at the rate of Rs 3000 per equity share. Its value is about 16 thousand crore rupees.

This offer for investors will close on January 1 next year. Under this offer of the company, a share buyback can be taken from December 18.

Last year, Wipro started a buyback program of 32.31 crore shares for Rs 325.

The Income Tax Department informed on Tuesday that till December 21, 3.75 crore taxpayers have filed income tax returns for the financial year 2019-20 (the assessment year 2020-21).

A tweet by the Income Tax Department said, “Do you know that by December 21, 2020, 3.75 crore taxpayers have already filed income tax returns for the assessment year 2020-21.
