PM Modi. Said this in an interview with the French publication Les Echos. He was asked a question, ‘You have been advocating India’s permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council.

Is the credibility of the United Nations at stake in this perspective?

In response to this, the Indian Prime Minister said, ‘The issue is not only of credibility but something bigger than this.

How can the UN Security Council claim to be the voice for the whole world when India, the world’s most populous and largest democracy, is not a permanent member?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spoke to the French media at his official residence in Delhi before flying to France, where he will be the guest of honor at the Bastille Day celebrations on Friday.

He said, ‘As the world’s largest democracy, with unique social and economic diversity, our success (permanent membership of India in the United Nations) will demonstrate that democracy can deliver.

The existence of harmony is possible in the midst of diversity.

Also, it is a natural expectation of the international system and institutions that the world’s largest democracy should get its due place.

I said it was not the age of war. . We have urged both sides (Russia and Ukraine) to resolve the issues through dialogue and diplomacy. I told him that India is ready to support all genuine efforts.
