Violent ruckus in Junagadh on notice of dargah being ‘illegal’, 1 killed in stone pelting, 4 policemen injured.

One person was killed and four policemen, including a DSP, were injured in violent clashes over a notice to demolish the alleged illegal Hazrat Roshan Shah Peer Baba Dargah in Junagadh district of Gujarat.

A viral video shows an irate mob of at least 300 people pelting stones at police officers.

Local media reports said that a police post was also vandalized and police vehicles were set on fire. After which the police officers had to fire tear gas shells.

This violent incident took place in Junagadh on Friday evening when the officials of Junagadh Municipal Corporation reached outside the Dargah in front of Majewadi Gate to put up a notice.

Stating that the dargah was built ‘illegally’, the municipal corporation had given a deadline of five days to present evidence that the dargah was built legally. After this, it will be demolished.

This enraged some people. Who later created a ruckus. A crowd gathered near the dargah at 9 pm and pelted stones at the officials.

As the situation worsened, a large number of police officers were sent to the area to bring the situation under control.
