VHP to hold statewide protest today against reservation to Muslims in government contracts, alleges vote bank politics. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will hold a statewide protest on Tuesday against the four per cent reservation given to Muslims in government contracts in Karnataka.
The VHP said it strongly condemns the bill introduced in the Assembly by the Karnataka government. We strongly oppose this unconstitutional decision and protests are being organised across the state in protest.
The protest in Bengaluru will be held at Freedom Park at 4 pm. The VHP said the Karnataka state cabinet has amended the KTPP, allowing four per cent reservation only for Muslims falling under category 2B in civil works contracts up to Rs 2 crore and up to Rs 1 crore in contracts for goods and services. This reservation is entirely based on religion, which is unacceptable. According to Article 15 of the Constitution, there should be no discrimination based on religion, race, caste, sex, or place of birth.

Also, which determines admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs) – said that they reached their examination center late due to traffic blockage. He said all 30 students were turned back from the gate of the examination hall and were not allowed to appear for the exam.
