Vaccination Figure In The Country Crosses 55 Crores

Vaccination figure in the country crosses 55 crores, 7.5 crore doses of vaccines were administered in 15 days of August.

The pace of corona vaccination increased in the last week of July and continues in August as well.

While more than 81 lakh vaccines were administered on Monday, in the first 15 days of August, 7.54 crore vaccines were administered across the country.

The Union Health Ministry said on Monday that more than 55 crore doses of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the country so far.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted that with record progress, more than 55 crore doses of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the country.

The Health Ministry has set a target of administering more than 10 crore doses in the remaining days of the month.

Along with this, the Ministry has given the status of National Drug Laboratory to the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology, Hyderabad for quality testing of vaccines.

A senior health ministry official said that with the increasing supply of vaccines, the pace of vaccination is also increasing rapidly in the country.

A total of 13.45 crore doses were administered in the month of July, which is expected to reach 180 million in August.

Of these, Serum Institute alone is providing about 150 million doses, while Bharat Biotech is providing 30 million doses.

Sputnik-V is also expected to receive around 10 million doses, but it has not been included in the vaccination campaign target due to the uncertainty of its supply.

In fact, the initial estimate of the Health Ministry was to put more than one crore doses per day at the end of July or the first week of August.

But this target could not be achieved due to quality constraints at Bharat Biotech’s Bangalore unit which could not start production.

The senior official said that this is the major unit of production of Bharat Biotech’s covaxine. The unit is now expected to start supply by the end of August or the first week of September.

Obviously, after that, the pace of vaccination will accelerate further. After July 15, on average, it has remained around 50 lakh doses per day.

The vaccination figure in the country crosses 55 crores: It is expected to reach 60-70 lakh doses per day in the next few days.

In order to expedite the supply of ready-made vaccines, the Health Ministry has allowed the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology, Hyderabad to function as the Central Drug Laboratory.

It is to be noted that most of the vaccines in the country are being manufactured in Pune and Hyderabad.

But they had to be sent to the Central Drug Laboratory in Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh for a quality check.

They were given to the states for use only after the quality was found to be good.

Apart from this, the Health Ministry is also preparing to give the status of Central Drug Laboratory to the National Institute of Virology, Pune.

Obviously, this will avoid unnecessary delays in the production and supply of vaccines.

If we look at the statistics of vaccination, it took 85 days for the country to touch the figure of 10 crores under the anti-covid vaccination.

After this, it took 45 days to reach the figure of more than 20 crores and 29 days to touch the figure of more than 30 crores.

After this, it took 24 more days for the country to touch the figure of 40 crores.

After this, on August 6, it took 20 more days to cross the 50 crore mark. On August 14, this figure had crossed 54 crores.

It is worth mentioning that with the vaccination of health workers in the country from January 16, the anti-covid vaccination campaign started.

After this, it was started for the frontline employees from February 2.

The next phase of anti-Covid vaccination started from March 1, which included vaccination of people above 60 years of age and people of 45 years and above suffering from various diseases.

After this, vaccination of people above 45 years of age was started from April 1.
