US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that US forces have killed an Islamic State (IS) leader in a drone strike in eastern Syria.

In a statement on Sunday, CENTCOM commander General Michael Kurilla said IS leader Usama al-Muhajir was killed in the July 7 strike.

The commander said the attack was carried out by an MQ-9 Reaper drone. “We have made it clear that we are committed to the defeat of IS in the entire region,” General Kurilla was quoted as saying.

IS has emerged as a threat not just for one region but on a larger scale. IS leader Usama al-Muhajir was killed in the July 7 attack.

No Casualties.

Also, CENTCOM confirmed that no civilians were killed in the attack, but did not give a brief on reports of injuries.

US drones taking part in anti-IS operations in Syria were harassed three times by Russian aircraft last week. Currently, the same drones are in the war-torn nation.

The war between Russian fighter jets and American drones lasted for two hours.

Quoting a statement from the US Air Forces Central, foreign media reported that the July 7 incident between Russian fighter jets and US drones lasted for about two hours.

Lieutenant General Alex Grinkevich, commander of US Air Force Central, said that 18 non-professional close flights by the Russian aircraft caused the MQ-9 to take action to avoid unsafe conditions.
