UN thanks India for giving two lakh doses of corona vaccine to peacekeepers.

The United Nations (UN) on Saturday thanks India for offering two lakh doses of the Corona vaccine to UN mission peacekeepers.

Also appreciated efforts to strengthen the Kovacs facility ensuring equal distribution of the Corona vaccine. It also said that India is leading the world in the fight against the Corona epidemic.

India’s Ambassador to the United Nations TS Trimurti was quoted as saying by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres that he has also thanked Foreign Minister S Jaishankar for offering the Corona vaccine to peacekeepers.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), till last week, India has supplied a total of 229.7 lakh doses of Corona virus vaccine to the global community.

Significantly, in India, the approval of emergency use of two vaccines was received on January 3. In this, the Covishield Vaccine of Serum Institute of India and Kovacixin of Bharat Biotech were approved by DGCI.

After this, with the help of both these vaccines, the corona vaccination started on 16 January.

Two hundred seven thousand 229 doses of the vaccine were given on the first day with the help of hundreds of health workers trained by UN agencies.

An app named CoWIN (Covid Vaccine Intelligence Work) is being used to monitor the entire vaccination process.

Addressing a weekly briefing, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said that India’s plan is to provide vaccine supplements to Oman, Caricom countries, Nicaragua, Pacific island states.

He further said that India plans to give one crore or 10 million vaccine supplements to Africa and 1 million UN health workers under the Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunization (GAVI).

Covid-19 Vaccination: Three months interval may be more effective in doses of Corona vaccine.

A study has been conducted regarding the interval between two doses of the Oxford vaccine against the coronavirus (Covid-19).

It claims that this vaccine can be more effective by keeping a three-month interval of two doses over six weeks. The first dose of vaccine can provide protection up to 76 percent.

The results of the third phase of the trial have been published in Lancet magazine. Accordingly, the time between two doses can be extended up to three months.

Researchers at Oxford University, UK, say that the time limit for dosages is safe. Vaccine supply is also limited. In such a situation, many countries can get help in accelerating vaccination of large part of their population.
