UN Expressed Concern Over Taliban Rule In Afghanistan

UN expressed concern over Taliban rule in Afghanistan. The United Nations expressed concern over the deteriorating economic situation in Afghanistan- the situation got worse under Taliban rule.

The United Nations on Wednesday expressed concern over the rapidly increasing poverty figures in Afghanistan.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has described the next 13 months as dangerous for Afghanistan from an economic point of view.

With that said, cash payments of $300 million each year to Afghan families with children, the elderly, or disabled people in Afghanistan are the most accurate way to reduce the rapidly increasing poverty rate.

Under this program, about $100 million will be used to promote ‘cash for work’ and about $900 million to promote small businesses.

Significantly, since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan last August, international aid to the country has decreased. Due to which the economy and banking system of Afghanistan is on the verge of collapse.

At the same time, the Covid-19 epidemic and drought have aggravated the already serious situation.

According to a UNDP estimate, poverty in Afghanistan could take a serious form by the middle of 2022. It is feared that its effect can be seen on 90 percent of the 39 million people of the country.

The United Nations World Food Program has said in a statement that about 22.8 million people in Afghanistan are facing serious food insecurity.

The UNDP established a special trust fund in October. In which Germany had promised financial assistance of about 50 million euros.

UN expressed concern over Taliban rule: Established by UNDP, this fund has received financial assistance of about $ 170 million from all over the world.

A report released by the UNDP warned that the economic situation in Afghanistan is not expected to improve in the near future.

It has also been told that economic growth is not possible until the ban on Afghan working women is lifted.

According to an estimate, there is a possibility of economic loss of between $ 600 million to one billion due to banning women’s employment in the country.
