On the other hand, the intensive search operation is being conducted in the forest area for the seventh consecutive day. The entire forest area has been cordoned off.

It is to be known that last week nine soldiers were martyred in two separate encounters between security forces and terrorists in the forest area of ​​Rajouri and Poonch districts.

On October 11, a fierce encounter took place during the anti-terrorist operation in the forest of Surankote.

The terrorists had ambushed the jawans and opened fire, in which five army personnel including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) were martyred.

After that, on Thursday night, four lives including another JCO were martyred in an encounter in the forest of Nadh Khas falling in the Mendhar sector of Poonch district.

After receiving information about the hiding of terrorists in the forests falling in Rajouri and Poonch districts, so far three encounters have taken place in the forests.

The first encounter took place on October 11 at Surankote in Poonch, in which the security forces suffered heavy casualties. Five soldiers were martyred.

After that, an encounter took place in the Thanamandi forest of Rajouri district. From here the terrorists escaped by dodging the security forces.

After that, the third encounter took place on Thursday in the forest of Nadh Khas. Here too there was a big loss of security forces. Four jawans including a JCO were martyred.

The help of para commandos and helicopters is being taken in the search of forests:

Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajouri-Poonch Range Vivek Gupta said that the entire forest area from Mendhar to Thanamandi is under strict siege.

Terrorists are running here and thereby taking advantage of the dense forest. The help of helicopters is also being taken in search of terrorists.

There the army has deployed para-commandos, on Saturday, an army helicopter was seen hovering over the forest area.

Traffic remained disrupted for the third day on Sunday in view of the ongoing intensive search operation on the Jammu-Rajouri highway between Mendhar and Thanamandi.
