The Army Will Again Buy Switch 1.0 Drones To Monitor LOC

To further strengthen surveillance along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the Indian Army has again entered into an agreement with Mumbai-based company ‘IdeaForge’ for the purchase of a high altitude variant of the Switch 1.0 drone.
Military officials gave this information but did not specify the number of drones to be purchased. The Army had entered into a previous agreement with this company in January last year.
The army will again buy Switch 1.0 drones: The agreement was worth about $ 20 million, but even then the number of drones purchased was not disclosed.
In a statement issued on Monday, Idea Forge said that it had supplied the prescribed number of Switch1.0 drones to the Indian Army within the stipulated time frame as per the agreement dated January 2021. The Indian Army has now placed an additional order for the same drone.
The Switch1.0 is a fixed-wing drone capable of vertical takeoff and landing. It can be deployed for day and night surveillance in high-altitude locations and in hostile environments.
Recently, Swedish defense equipment manufacturer ‘Saab’ had informed that it has entered into a contract to supply anti-tank weapon ‘AT-4’ to the Indian Armed Forces.
According to the report of the news agency, ‘Saab’ got the contract to supply this weapon after going through a competitive process.
The Indian Army and the Indian Air Force will use the AT-4. The Anti-Tank Weapon ‘AT-4’ is a single soldier-operated weapon.
