Team India got a setback after winning the Centurion Test, ICC imposed a fine on Team India.
The Indian cricket team ended the year with a thumping Test victory against South Africa. India registered a massive 113-run win against the hosts in Centurion.
Along with the joy of victory in this match, the team also got a setback. The match referee fined Team India for bowling slow during the match.
The first match of the three-match Test series between the two countries started on Boxing Day i.e. 26 December. On the fifth day, the result of this match came in favor of the Indian team.
Team India won by defeating the hosts in the second innings for 191 runs. The Indian cricket team was on Friday fined 20 percent of its match fee for a slow over-rate in the first Test against South Africa.
The ICC said that the offense would result in India losing one point from the ICC Men’s World Test Championship.
The Emirates ICC Elite Panel’s match referee Andrew Pycraft imposed the penalty on India for bowling one over less in the stipulated time.
Captain Virat Kohli accepted the charge, so there was no need for a formal hearing.
The allegations were made by on-field umpires Marius Erasmus, Adrian Holdstock, besides third umpire Alauddin Palekar and fourth umpire Bongani Zele.
India had scored 327 runs in this match in the first innings on the basis of the century innings of vice-captain KL Rahul.
After this, on the basis of the excellent bowling of Mohammed Shami, the Proteas team got a big lead of 130 by stopping the Proteas team for 197 runs in the first innings.
The Indian batsmen did not play in the second innings and the entire team was all out on 174.
South Africa had a big target of 305 runs to win, before which they succumbed. India created history with a win in Centurion, where no Asian team had been able to register a win before.
