T20 World Cup 2021: India Face England In The Warm-up Match

T20 world cup 2021: India face England in the warm-up match, Kohli eyes on correcting the batting order.

India captain Virat Kohli will be eyeing all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s pace and batting line-up in the warm-up match against England to be played on Monday before the team’s campaign in the T20 World Cup begins.

After England on Monday, the Indian team has to play a warm-up match against Australia on Wednesday. All the players of the team were part of the recently concluded IPL.

So, match practice is not a problem for Kohli’s players but before their opening match in the tournament against Pakistan on October 24, they will try to find the right combination.

Against England and Australia, the Indian team management would like to give chances to players whose places are not confirmed in the playing XI.

Efforts will be made to give more chances to such players to bat or bowl so that they can get a better idea of their current form.

While vice-captain Rohit Sharma’s place as the opener is confirmed, it will be a tough choice to choose between Ishan Kishan and Lokesh Rahul as his teammates.

In these practice matches, both of them may get a chance to open the innings to see who is in better shape.

However, Rahul will be a big contender for this as he has the experience of playing pressure matches. He has scored 626 runs (including 30 sixes) in the 14th season of IPL at a strike rate of 138.80.

Kishan had also hinted at getting back into the limelight by scoring consecutive half-centuries in the last two matches of Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

He opened the innings in both these matches. If Rahul opens the innings, Kishan will give a tough fight to Hardik at the sixth position in the middle order.

Both Hardik and Kishan have had a disappointing performance in the UAE leg of the IPL. Hardik’s bowling will also be a big issue.

There is little chance that he will bowl. In such a situation, it will also be interesting to see whether the wicketkeeper will bat before Rishabh Pant or later if he is part of the team.

T20 world cup 2021: Ravindra Jadeja has a solid place in the team in the spin bowling department.

If Varun Chakraborty remains fit, then his place in the team is also almost certain. For the third spinner, it will be a contest between leg-spinner Rahul Chahar and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashchin.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are expected to lead the pace bowling, but if the team decides to go with two spinners, then Shardul Thakur may get a place in the team.

On the other hand, England will expect Jason Rai and Jani Bairstow to bat aggressively with Jos Buttler.

Some batsmen like Liam Livingstone and David Malan can struggle here if IPL’s performance is measured.

Eoin Morgan has been brilliant for Kolkata Knight Riders as captain, but he could not do much with the bat in the tournament.
