Recently, Suvendu Adhikari resigned from Trinamool Congress. Amit Shah and Suvendu Adhikari greeted the people at a rally organized at the college ground in Paschim Medinipur.
Finally, Suvendu Adhikari, a strongman and former minister who resigned from the Trinamool Congress, joined the BJP on Saturday, putting an end to all political speculation.
He held the saffron flag in Medinipur, Bengal, in the presence of Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah. Shah welcomed him to the party.
Significantly, Suvendu has been the poster boy of the Nandigram movement. This Nandigram movement had an important role in Mamata Banerjee’s occupation of Bengal in 2011.
Significantly, Suvendu, an MLA from Nandigram in the former Medinipur district, resigned from the state cabinet on November 27 last month.

Suvendu’s joining the BJP is a big setback for the Trinamool Congress. Suvendu was considered by Trinamool Congress to be the largest mass leader after Mamata Banerjee.
Suvendu’s father and brother are also MPs. The Adhikari family has considerable influence in the former Medinipur and the surrounding six districts.
