Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa Also Took Oath As A Minister

Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa also took oath as a minister along with new Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi, who became MLA for the first time in 2002.

Senior Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has taken oath along with the new Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi.

It is expected that Randhawa will be the Deputy Chief Minister. Along with Channi, OP Soni, the Hindu face of the party, has also taken an oath. He is also likely to become the Deputy Chief Minister.

Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa is the MLA from Dera Baba Nanak. Born on January 2, 1959, in Dharowali village of Gurdaspur, Randhawa’s father Santokh Singh has been the state president of Congress.

His wife’s name is Jatinder Kaur Randhawa. He has three children a son and two daughters. He is a graduate and his main business is farming.

Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has contested the assembly elections four times so far. Randhawa won three times.

For the first time in 2002, he defeated Nirmal Singh Kahlon of Akali Dal from the Fatehgarh Chudiyan assembly constituency, while in 2007 he was defeated by Nirmal Singh Kahlon.

After this, in 2012, he contested from the newly created assembly constituency Dera Baba Nanak and became MLA after defeating Sucha Singh Langah of Akali.

In 2017 also defeated Sucha Singh Langah of Akali Dal for the second time and became MLA. Presently he was working as the Minister of Cooperation and Prisons.

Before the announcement of Channi’s name for the post of CM, Randhawa’s name was running for this post. Laddu had also reached Channi’s house.

The MLAs were reaching their Kothi, but suddenly it was announced to make Channi the CM. Randhawa had revolted against Captain Amarinder Singh.

He went to Dehradun and met the Punjab Congress in-charge of Harish Rawat.
