Stefanos Tsitsipas Showed His Strength Before Wimbledon

Stefanos Tsitsipas showed his strength before Wimbledon, winning the Majorca Championship by defeating Agut.

Greece’s 23-year-old tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas won the Majorca Tennis Championships title by defeating Roberto Batista Agut in the final played in Palma, Spain.

With this victory, he has indicated that he is preparing well for the upcoming Grand Slam Wimbledon.

This is Tsitsipas’ first grass-court title on the ATP Tour ahead of Wimbledon starting Monday, June 27 at the All England Club.

Second seed Tsitsipas defeated Agut in the deciding set tiebreaker to register a 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(2) win. He won the first set 6-4 but in the second set, Agut made a comeback.

Spanish player Agut won the second set 6-3. Then the third set went to the tiebreaker where Tsitsipas won and captured the title.

The 23-year-old Tsitsipas has shown a good game so far in the current season. It was his 40th win of the season.

Tsitsipas won the 9th title of his career and the second title of the season. He also retained the Monte Carlo tournament title in April.

Tsitsipas ranked sixth in the world rankings, will face Alexander Richard in the first round of Wimbledon.

In August 2021, he reached the number-3 ranking, which is the best ranking by any Greek player in history.

Mirabai Chanu won the gold medal in the last Commonwealth Games. After this, she also won a silver medal in the Olympics, a bronze in the Asian Championships, and a world record.

She says her real competition in Birmingham will not be with her rivals but with herself.

The player, who won silver in the 2014 edition of the Commonwealth Games and gold in the 2018 edition, said, ‘The Commonwealth Games will be easy for me. I will fight by myself.
