After the captain’s dismissal, Sanath Jayasuriya (18) and Upul Tharanga not out (39) strengthened Sri Lanka by sharing 39 runs for the second wicket.
After this Jayasuriya was also dismissed. Tharanga then added 70 runs for the third wicket with Chintaka Jaisinghe not out (47) to give Sri Lanka an 8-wicket victory and make it to the final.
Tharanga hit five fours in 44 balls and Jaisinghe hit eight fours and six off 25 balls.
