Sirsa Raised Issue Of Security Of Sikh Women In Kashmir

Sirsa raised the issue of the security of women of the Sikh community after meeting the Lieutenant Governor.

A Sikh delegation led by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Manjinder Singh Sirsa met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Srinagar on Sunday.

The Sikh delegation raised other issues relating to the protection of the rights of women of the Sikh community and the community.

During the meeting at the Raj Bhavan, Sirsa expressed displeasure over the abduction and conversion of two Sikh girls in Kashmir and demanded an inquiry into the matter.

The Lieutenant Governor has assured proper action in this matter.

He took up with the Lieutenant Governor about the protection of the rights of the women of the Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir.

The formation of the Minorities Commission in J&K, the implementation of the Inter-Religious Caste Marriage Act, the land of the Gurdwara at Barthana, Srinagar, and other religious matters.

The representatives told the need to give reservations to the Sikh community in the delimitation process.

The Lieutenant Governor assured the delegates that appropriate steps would be taken after considering the issues raised by them.

The Lieutenant Governor said that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir is accountable for the service of the people.

The government is taking steps without any discrimination to ensure good governance along with responsibility and protect the rights of every section of society.

He said that the administration would take steps to address the issues raised by the Sikh community. The delegation included members of various District Gurdwara Management Committees of Kashmir.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang Pole, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, Srinagar SSP Sandeep Choudhary were present in the meeting.

Lieutenant Governor Sinha said – the balance between nature and development is necessary, forest area increased by 20 percent in the state.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said that it is necessary to maintain the right balance between nature and development.

The role of the Forest Department is also important in this. He directed the concerned officers to find out ways to reduce the adverse effects of development.

The Lieutenant Governor asked the officials to take the help of technical experts for the conservation of four poplars in Dal Lake.

The Lieutenant Governor launched the One Beat Guard-One Village program on the foundation day of the 130 years of dedicated service program of the Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department.

The Lieutenant Governor said that there are 42 types of forests in Jammu and Kashmir.

The forest area has increased by 20%. According to a report, the total forest area in the year 2019 was 10.46 percent, which increased to 39.66 percent in the year 2020.
