SHO suspended for raping accused’s wife in Hyderabad, case registered: Telangana.

A case has been registered against a Station House Officer (SHO) in Hyderabad for allegedly raping the wife of an accused arrested by him.

The SHO has been suspended from service. He has been identified as Nageshwar Rao.

He was posted as circle inspector or SHO of Maredpally police station after he allegedly raped the woman, attacked her husband, threatened her with a revolver, and kidnapped her on the intervening night of 7-8 July.

A case has been registered against SHO Nageswara Rao at Vanasthalipuram police station under the rape, attempt to murder, kidnapping, and Arms Act.

Police have formed special teams to trace and arrest absconding Nageswara Rao.

The victim filed a complaint on July 8.

The victim lodged a complaint with the Vanasthalipuram police station on July 8, 2022.

In the year 2018, a case was registered against the victim’s husband by the task force and the matter was investigated by CI Nageswara Rao.

Later, the complainant’s husband was kept at his farmhouse by Nageswara Rao as a monthly wage worker till February 2021.

SHO threatened the victim and her husband.

On the night of July 7, 2022, at around 9.30 pm, Inspector Nageshwar entered the victim’s house in Vanasthalipuram and assaulted and raped her.

Meanwhile, the victim’s husband reached there and beat Nageshwar fiercely with sticks. On this, Nageshwar threatened the victim and her husband with a revolver and asked them to vacate Hyderabad.

Nageshwar threatened that a fake case would be registered against him if he did not leave Hyderabad.

He then forcibly took the couple in his car and took them towards Ibrahimpatnam.

On the way, the car met with an accident, after which the victim and her husband fled from there to the police station and lodged a complaint.

The police commissioner suspended the accused SHO.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand has ordered a detailed inquiry into the matter. They have suspended the accused SHO from service pending the investigation.
