Restrictions Continued In Kashmir Even Today, Highway Closed

Restrictions continued in Kashmir even today, the decision will be taken after noon on starting the highway closed-mobile internet.

Restrictions continued in various areas of Kashmir for the second consecutive day on Friday after the death of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

The decision to restore mobile internet will be taken in a meeting convened to review the security arrangements later this afternoon.

Giving information about this, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that security agencies have received information that some anti-national elements can disrupt the peaceful environment of Kashmir.

This restriction has been implemented as a precaution. The restrictions will remain in force until the safety of the people is completely assured.

As far as restoring mobile connectivity is concerned, a decision will be taken in the review meeting this evening.

You should be aware that due to the restrictions in force for the second consecutive day in the Kashmir Valley, the Jammu-Srinagar highway has also been closed.

That is, no vehicle is being allowed to enter the Kashmir Valley from Jammu. Private vehicles including trucks, oil tankers have been stopped at Jakhaini and Banihal in Nagrota, Udhampur.

Meanwhile, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said the situation in the valley was peaceful. There is no news of any untoward incident anywhere.

On Thursday, some anti-national elements tried to spread baseless rumors on the police about the forcible burial of Geelani.

But the police dismissed all these allegations and appealed to the people to maintain peace. He also said that efforts are being made to trace such elements spreading rumors and take legal action against them.

The IGP said that even today there are reports that some anti-national elements will once again try to incite violence. The IGP told the people that he did not pressurize the family members to bury Geelani.

The truth is that it was the police who helped bring his dead body from home to the graveyard.

The family members also suspected that many anti-national elements could take undue advantage of this situation.

Only a few relatives including the next of kin of the deceased were present during this period.

IGP Kashmir appreciated the cooperation of the general public in maintaining the peaceful situation in the entire valley.

He said that the anti-national elements tried their best but the local people foiled their every plan.

He said that we will review the situation later this afternoon and a decision will be taken on restoring other restrictions including mobile internet.
