PV Sindhu And Saina Nehwal Will Return After 10 Months

PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal to appear on court after 10 months: Thailand Open 2021.

Indian badminton players PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal will return to competitive competition from the Yonex Thailand Opar Super 1000 tournament starting on Tuesday.

They both will appear after the Coronavirus epidemic hit the international calendar for nearly 10 months.

Players from China and Japan are not participating in the tournament, due to which its brightness has faded slightly.

While Sindhu had been practicing in London for the past two months, Saina would like to regain her rhythm soon after recovering from covid-19.

She will also test her fitness in the tournament to be held on Tuesday.

BWF suspended the season after the All England Championships in March last year, after which Sindhu and Saina did not participate in Denmark Open Super 750 and Saralorx Super 100 in October.

HSBC will not be part of the BWF (World Badminton Association) World Tour Finals (27 to 31 January), except for the Yonex Thailand Open (12 to 17 January) and Toyota Thailand Open (19 to 24 January).

With these three tournaments, the 2020 season affected by the corona virus epidemic will end.

In the absence of players from China and Japan, the path of Sidhu and Saina will definitely be a little easier.

Japan withdrew from the tournament at the last moment after world number one player Kento Momota came out positive in the Corona investigation after China decided to withdraw from the cvid-19 case in Thailand.

While sixth-ranked Sindhu will open her campaign against Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt, Saina, ranked 20th, faced Nozomi Okuhara in the first round but will now face Kisona Selvudure of Malaysia.

Seven Indian players will compete in the men’s singles including former world number one Kidambi Srikanth, Olympic quota winner Sai Praneeth and HS Prannoy.

Srikanth, ranked 14th in the world rankings, will begin his campaign against Indian player Saurabh Verma, while 13th-ranked Praneeth will face local player Kantafon Wangcharoen in the first round.

The men’s doubles duo of Savkysiraj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who won the Tokyo Olympics, will appear in court against Kim Ji Jung and Lee Yong Dae of Korea.

The women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy will play in the first round against Korea’s fourth seeded Kim Soo Yong and Kong Hee Yong.
