Pujara And Panth Created History For India In The Third Test

Pujara and Panth created history for India, this record broken after 72 years.

In the third Test match between India and host Australia, Indian batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Panth created a history for the Indian team.

Pujara and Panth together set a record for India’s fourth-wicket partnership in the fourth innings.

Panth and Pujara shared a 148-run partnership for the fourth wicket on Monday, the fifth day of the Sydney Test.

With this, the pair of Pujara and Panth has broken all records of fourth wicket partnership for the Indian cricket team.

This partnership also includes 97 runs from wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant. Pant made 97 off 118 balls with 12 fours and three sixes and was dismissed for a total of 250.

He missed his second against Australia and his third Test Test century by just three runs.

However, he became the first player to score a century and more than 90 runs in the fourth innings of a Test match for India.

Let me tell you, before Modi and Vijay Hazare, the record of the largest partnership for the fourth wicket in the fourth innings of the Test match for India was before Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Panth.

Together these two batsmen added 139 runs against the West Indies in Mumbai in 1948–49.

Also in the 1979–80 season, Dilip Vengsarkar and Yashpal Sharma shared a 122-run partnership against Pakistan in Delhi. However, now this record has gone awry.

Rishabh Pant is the second batsman in the world to score a century and more than 90 runs in the fourth innings of a Test match, while for India he is the first player to do so.

He is also the first batsman to score a century in the fourth innings for India. Prior to that, MS Dhoni was named as the wicketkeeper-batsman in the fourth innings, but in 2018.

Rishabh Pant overtook him. Pant scored 97 off 118 balls with 12 fours and 3 sixes.

139 runs – Russian Modi-Vijay Hazare vs West Indies (1948/49)
