Puducherry Political Crises: There Are Only Two Options

Puducherry Political Crises: There are only two options left after Narayanasamy’s government fell in Puducherry.

There are only two options left after the Congress government led by V. Narayanasamy fell on Monday in Puducherry.

The first option from them is to come before any other party and submit a claim to form a government, then the second is to impose President’s rule in the state. As far as the first option is concerned, it seems unlikely.

The reason for this is because there will be assembly elections in April-May. In such a situation, another party will come there and would like to taste the taste of power for a few days.

Puducherry Political Crises: In such a situation, the option of the President’s rule seems quite strong.

After the changed political developments in Puducherry on Monday, the government was to prove its majority in the assembly, but before that, the Chief Minister resigned.

The assembly speaker then announced the fall of the government. A few days ago, the Center removed LG Kiran Bedi and handed over the charge to the Telangana Governor Tamilisai Saundarajan.

It was she who directed Narayanasamy to prove his majority in the assembly.

As far as the relationship between the Congress government and Kiran Bedi is concerned, they always remained tense. Many times the tussle between these two came out openly.

This outrage was revealed in the assembly on Monday when Narayanasamy accused the Center and the former Lt. Governor of working to topple his government.

Bedi took over as the 24th Deputy Governor of the city on 29 May 2016. In February 2019 and in January this year also, a dharna was given outside Narayanasamy’s government to remove him from the Raj Niwas.

Talking about the existing seats in the assembly, the Congress has nine, seven seats All India NR Congress, four seats AIADMK, one seat DMK, one independent, seven seats vacant, and three BJP members are nominated.

It is worth noting that till 1962, India was ruled by France before joining with India. At that time he divided it into four districts and had 39 assembly constituencies.

After joining India, Puducherry was divided into 30 assembly constituencies. The boundaries of the assembly seats were re-fixed by the Delimitation Commission in 2005.
