Preparations For A Major Operation Against Naxalites

Preparations for a major operation against Naxalites, the force has a stronghold in the interior areas.

After the success of Operation Monsoon in Chhattisgarh, the force is now in no mood to relax the Naxalites.

Monsoon has not even departed from Bastar so far that the force has started preparations for Operation Winter.

IG Sundarraj P reached the Akabed camp located in the very inaccessible forest of Abujhmad on Thursday and met the force personnel and villagers to discuss Naxalism and the pace of development.

He is the first IG to reach this inaccessible area.

Amidst the increased morale of the soldiers, the plan for Operation Winter was made in Akabeda itself.

What was then, the very next day i.e. on Friday, the IG called a meeting of the SPs of all the districts of Bastar division. Consulted him and instructed him to be ready for operation winter.

In fact, the situation has changed a lot in the last two years in the Bastar division.

Police stations like Tarrem in Bijapur district, Kohkameta, and Sonpur in Narayanpur, which were closed a decade ago due to Naxal terror, have now reopened.

The force has opened about 120 camps to strengthen its hold in the interior areas. With the help of force camps, facilities like roads, electricity, water, schools, hospitals, ration shops, etc. are reaching the villages settled in the forest.

As the force is increasing inside, the Naxalites are retreating. IG has selected 32 camps in remote areas which will act as development centers.

Naxalites have no place.

Earlier, Naxalites used to commit crimes in one district and move to another district or state.

Now the plan is being made such that till the place a detachment of the force pursues them, a detachment of another district or state gets behind in front of them.

The result of coordinating work on various districts and inter-state borders has been that more than 18 thousand square km of Bastar area has been freed from Naxalism.

Attack on Naxal camp in raining water.

Normally, during the rainy season, if the rivers and streams in the forest were in spate, the Naxalites used to consider themselves safe. Seeing the opportunity, they used to attack the force.

This time the force’s Operation Monsoon has got unprecedented success. During the monsoon, the force raided 23 camps of Naxalites.

During this, 18 hardcore Naxalites were killed and returned with their bodies. 74 Naxalites were arrested in the monsoon, 129 surrendered.

Development started reaching remote areas.

Operation winter will run after Operation Monsoon.

Bastar is now walking on the path of peace. Development has started reaching remote areas. The curbs imposed on Naxalism will not be relaxed now.
