PM Narendra Modi’s Ferozepur rally was canceled, Home Ministry seeks response from the Punjab government on security lapse.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to lay the foundation stone of PGI’s satellite center in Ferozepur today.
After this, he was to address the rally, but the rally has been canceled due to security reasons. However, BJP leaders had started arriving at the rally site in the morning amid the rain.
PM reached Bathinda by plane. He was welcomed here by Finance Minister Manpreet Badal on behalf of the Punjab Government. From here he left for Ferozepur by road due to rain.
Earlier PM Modi was supposed to reach Bathinda airport by helicopter, but due to bad weather, the helicopter could not take off. For this reason, the route was arranged for them on the spot.
On the way, some people blocked the road. This has been considered by the Union Home Ministry as a lapse in the security of the PM and has sought an answer from the Punjab Government.
According to the leading news agency, the PM reached Bathinda in the morning, from where he was to go by helicopter to the National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala.
But due to rain and poor visibility, the PM waited for about 20 minutes for the weather to clear.
When the weather did not improve, it was decided that he would visit the National Meritorious Memorial by road, which would take more than 2 hours.
He proceeded to travel by road after DGP Punjab Police confirmed the necessary security arrangements.
About 30 km from the National Martyrs Memorial in Hussainiwala, when the PM’s convoy reached a flyover, some protesters blocked the road.
The PM was stuck on the flyover for 15-20 minutes. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, this was a big lapse in the security of the PM.
The Punjab government was informed in advance about the Prime Minister’s schedule and travel plans. After this security lapse, it was decided to return to Bathinda airport.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) says that it is taking cognizance of this serious security lapse and has sought a detailed report from the state government.
The state government has also been asked to fix the responsibility of this lapse and take strict action.
Let us tell you, PM Modi was to lay the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 42,750 crore from Ferozepur. Former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh also reached the rally.

For the rally of the Prime Minister, 50 thousand chairs were installed in the 30-acre pandal, while the stage was specially decorated.
For the security of the rally, 10,000 police personnel were stationed at the rally site.
Three helipads have been built here for the Prime Minister’s arrival for the foundation laying program of PGI Satellite Centre, while four helipads have been prepared separately near the Hussainiwala border.

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Ferozepur today, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has urged him to announce a package for Punjab.
The Chief Minister has asked to announce a package of tax concessions for the industries set up in Punjab on the lines of Himachal Pradesh.
Channi said that he welcomes the Prime Minister when he comes to Punjab, but due to the arrival of two Covid patients in my office, I will not be able to go to Ferozepur.
But will connect with him through video conferencing like the Chief Ministers of Himachal and Haryana.
He said that some other ministers including Finance Minister Manpreet Badal will go to welcome the PM.
The Chief Minister said that before the arrival of the PM, he has written to him, in which he has asked to withdraw the decision to increase the radius of BSF from 15 km to 50 km.
The Chief Minister has once again asked for a joint effort to waive off the entire loan on the farmers of Punjab.
