People’s Conference Distanced Itself From Muzaffar Hussain Baig

People’s Conference shunned former Deputy Chief Minister Baig, this is the reason: Jammu and Kashmir.

The PC on Tuesday distanced itself from former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig.

He has described himself as a representative of a common Kashmiri instead of a particular political party in an all-party meeting.

In March this year, Muzaffar Hussain Baig left the PDP and joined the People’s Conference.

After this, now the chair of Baramulla District Development Council, Safina Baig, also seems to be in danger.

She has become the chairman only with the support of the People’s Conference. Baig had left the PDP and joined the People’s Conference in March this year.

Baig played a key role in the founding of the People’s Conference along with the late Abdul Gani Lone, father of Sajjad Gani Lone.

Later their paths parted. In the all-party meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week, Muzaffar Hussain Baig had said that I am not a representative of any particular party here.

I am here as a Kashmiri, representative of the common citizen of Jammu and Kashmir, and a former Deputy Chief Minister.

He also spoke against the declared stand of the People’s Conference on Articles 370 and 35A.

He also interrupted PDP President Mehbooba Mufti in the meeting on the issue of Article 370 and said that there is no need to raise it here. The matter is pending in the Supreme Court.

After the all-party meeting, there were reports of differences between People’s Conference chairman Sajjad Gani Lone and Baig.

On Tuesday, the PC general secretary Imran Raza Ansari said that Muzaffar Hussain Baig is not a member of our party.

He has never formally attended the PC nor has he taken membership of the party. On the basis of old relations when our chairman Sajjad Gani Lone went to meet him at his house in March.

Muzaffar Hussain Baig had thanked the PC  for supporting Safina Baig for the post of chairman in the Baramulla DDC election at that time.

Safina Baig has become the chairman with the support of our own party. In Baramulla DDC three of our members won the election.
