Panchayat Elections Will Not Be Held In Madhya Pradesh

Panchayat elections will not be held in Madhya Pradesh, State Election Commission has decided.

Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission has decided that Panchayat elections will not be held in the state. The notification issued on December 4 has been quashed.

Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission secretary B.S. Jamod said that the Commission has decided that the Panchayat elections which were announced from December 4, should be canceled.

All the candidates who have deposited the deposit amount along with their nomination paper are entitled to get their deposit amount back.

It may be known that in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday, it was decided to withdraw the Madhya Pradesh Panchayat Raj and Gram Swaraj Amendment Ordinance.

After getting the permission of Governor Mangubhai Patel, the Law and Legislative Department issued a notification late at night to withdraw it with immediate effect.

Three-tier panchayat elections will not be conducted without Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservations.

After the withdrawal of the ordinance by the cabinet, now the situation of 2019 will come into force i.e. the current election process will not be valid.

In view of this, the State Election Commission had to postpone the election.

The government will have to do the process as per the order of the Supreme Court.

Now according to the order given by the Supreme Court regarding OBC reservation, the government will have to process.

For this, the backward classes will be counted first and the reservation will be determined on the basis of that.

This reservation cannot exceed the limit of 50 percent including the reservation of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

State Government Spokesperson Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister told that Congress has done the work of stopping OBC reservation.

Now the Panchayat and Rural Development Department will have to prepare for conducting fresh elections.

In this, work will have to be done in light of the order given by the Supreme Court regarding the OBC reservation.

The reservation process will have to be done on a rotation basis by getting delimitation afresh. It may take two to three months.
