Shock to former Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala in disproportionate assets case got 4 years imprisonment.

Former Haryana Chief Minister and supremo Om Prakash Chautala, convicted in a disproportionate assets case, has been sentenced to four years imprisonment by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court.

MP-MLA Court Special Judge Vikas Dhal, while delivering the judgment on Friday, imposed a heavy fine of Rs 50 lakh on Chautala and ordered to seize his properties in Sirsa, Panchkula, Gurugram, and Asola.

Along with this, the court ordered to pay Rs 50 lakh in fine amount to CBI

The court ordered Omprakash Chautala to be taken into custody from the courtroom itself.

The court, while rejecting the appeal of Omprakash Chautala’s advocate for giving ten days to file the appeal petition in the matter, said that you go to the Delhi High Court.

The court on Thursday adjourned the proceedings of the matter till Friday after hearing the arguments of both sides in the matter.

On May 21, the court convicted Omprakash Chautala in a case involving assets worth Rs 6.09 crore.

CBI had filed a charge sheet in the year 2010.

The Central Investigation Agency (CBI) probing the case had filed a charge sheet against Chautala on March 26, 2010.

The agency had alleged that Chautala, a seven-time MLA between 1993 and 2006, had assets worth over Rs 6.09 crore. earned, which was much more than his known sources of income.

However, the defense had dismissed the case as a case registered under political malice.

In the year 2019, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) under the Money Laundering Act attached his property worth Rs 3.68 crore including his flats and plots in New Delhi, Panchkula, and Sirsa.

Chautala was convicted in another case within a year of completion of the sentence.

Om Prakash Chautala was convicted by the Supreme Court for corruption in the 2013 JBT teacher recruitment scam. Chautala was sentenced to seven years in jail and 10 years for criminal conspiracy.

Chautala had come out of Tihar Jail in this case only on July 2021 and now he will have to stay in jail again.
