NZ vs WI: New Zealand Won ODI Series In West Indies
NZ vs WI: New Zealand won the ODI series in West Indies for the first time with Neesham’s six, and 4 batsmen hit fifty.
New Zealand beat West Indies by 5 wickets in 17 balls in the third and deciding ODI at Bridgetown. With this, the Kiwi team won the 3 ODI series by 2-1.
New Zealand’s men’s team has won the ODI series in the West Indies for the first time. New Zealand’s team lost the first ODI of this series.
But, after that made a tremendous comeback and won the last two ODIs and captured the series. New Zealand’s victory in the third ODI had not one or two, but five heroes.
The foundation of victory was laid by Martin Guptill, Devon Conway, Tom Latham, and Daryl Mitchell, then the building of victory was erected by James Neesham.
NZ vs WI: New Zealand won. Neesham scored an unbeaten 34 runs in 11 balls at a strike rate of 309 and New Zealand achieved the target of 302 runs in 17 balls.
Earlier, New Zealand captain Tom Latham had won the toss and elected to bowl first. But, this decision of the Kiwi captain did not prove to be right.
The opening pair of Shai Hope and Kyle Myers gave a bang for the West Indies. The pair shared a 173-run partnership for the first wicket.
This is West Indies’ second highest partnership for the first wicket against New Zealand.
Earlier, the pair of Gordon Grannies and Desmond Haynes had put on an unbeaten 192 runs for the first wicket in Christchurch in 1987.
When West Indies’ score was 173 runs, then Shai Hope became a victim of Trent Boult. Hope got out after scoring 51 runs.
West Indies’ innings faltered as soon as he was dismissed and in the very next over, Myers also returned to the pavilion after playing an innings of 105 runs.
Brandon King and Shamrah Brooks were also dismissed cheaply. West Indies lost 3 more wickets within 18 runs after the first wicket fell for 173.
However, then captain Nicholas Pooran took the lead and batted relentlessly, hitting 91 runs in 55 balls.
He hit 4 fours and 9 sixes. Thanks to his innings, West Indies scored 301 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs.
Chasing the target of 302 runs for victory, New Zealand did not have a good start. Finn Allen got out after scoring 3 runs.
After this Martin Guptill and Devon Conway put on a 100-run partnership for the second wicket to bring New Zealand’s innings back on track. Guptill was dismissed after scoring 57 runs.
Conway (56) was also out after his return to the pavilion.
After losing 3 wickets for 128 runs, for New Zealand, captain Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell shared a 103-ball 120-run partnership for the fourth wicket to take the team to the threshold of victory.
Latham was dismissed for 69 and Mitchell 63.
After this, James Bracewell and James Neesham added an unbeaten 48 runs in 23 balls to give New Zealand victory for the sixth wicket. Neesham scored 34 not out in 11 balls. He hit 4 sixes and a four.
