Two people were killed and several others injured in a shooting at a nightclub in the Norwegian capital Oslo on Saturday morning.
CBS News quoted the Oslo Police District as saying that several shots were fired at a nightclub. At least two people died and several were seriously injured, according to police.
Police spokesman Torrey Burstad told that the crime scene stretched from a London pub through a neighboring club to a nearby street where the suspect was caught minutes after the shooting began.
Norway Shooting: The London Pub is a popular gay bar and nightclub in the center of Oslo.
“I saw a man come with a bag, he picked up a gun and started shooting,” said Olav Röneberg, a journalist for the public broadcaster NRK.
It was not yet clear what the motive of the attack was. Oslo is scheduled to hold its annual Pride Parade on Saturday.
The Oslo Police Department said in a tweet, ‘Two people have been confirmed dead.’ Around 14 people were taken to hospital, many of whom were seriously injured, police said.
Photos published by the newspaper VG, broadcaster NRK, and others showed a large crowd of emergency responders, including police and ambulance personnel, outside a London pub.
Helicopters hovered over central Oslo, while ambulances and police car sirens were heard across the city. Oslo University Hospital said it was on red alert after the shooting.
