New Body Will Be Formed To Improve The Judicial Structure

New body will be formed to improve the judicial structure: CJI Ramana.

Chief Justice NV Ramana said on Saturday that the judicial system of the country is facing difficult challenges.

It lacks infrastructure, lacks administrative staff and a large number of judges’ posts are vacant. To improve the situation, he stressed the need to set up a new body.

The CJI was addressing a program organized by the Bar Council of India (BCI) to honor him.

He said that a detailed proposal for setting up the National Judicial Infrastructure Corporation was being prepared and it would be sent to the government soon.

Law Minister Kiren Rijiju was also present in the program.

The CJI said he would submit a detailed report to the Law Minister on how many court buildings, chambers, and other facilities are needed.

He has seen that when he was in the High Court, he saw that there was no toilet for women. Terming the huge number of vacant judges’ posts is a major challenge.

the CJI hoped that the government would decide on the names sent by the collegium for appointments to the High Court as expeditiously as it did for the appointment of nine judges to the Supreme Court.

For this, he also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Law Minister Rijiju. Justice Ramana said that his endeavor is to deal with the vacancies in the higher judiciary on an urgent basis.

New body will be formed to improve the judicial structure: Concerns were expressed over the low representation of women in the judicial system.

CJI Ramana expressed concern that even after 75 years of independence, women have not been given full representation in the judicial system.

“It is expected that there should be at least 50 percent representation of women at all levels but I must admit that with great difficulty we could get 11 percent representation of women in the Supreme Court bench,” he said.

At present, out of 33 judges in the apex court, there are four women judges.

Justice Gavai compares CJI to Tendulkar.

Appreciating CJI Ramana for appointing nine judges at once to the Supreme Court, Justice BR Gavai compared him to former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

Justice Gavai said, “Justice Ramana is like Tendulkar who is breaking records one after the other.”

Justice Gavai said that Justice Ramana is the real team leader. He is always concerned for the common people.

I am not Tendulkar: Ramana.

The CJI said, ‘All of you are giving me credit for the appointments. But I do not take credit for this. I am not Sachin Tendulkar. The whole team has to work together only then we will win the match
