Mukesh Ambani bought a luxurious 5-star hotel in New York, a deal done for about Rs 728 crore.

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Limited bought New York’s premium luxury hotel Mandarin Oriental for USD 98.15 million (about Rs 728 crore).

This announcement has been made by Reliance Industries Limited on Saturday.

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel, built-in 2003, is an iconic luxury hotel in New York located at 80 Columbus Circle. It is close to ancient Central Park and Columbus Circle.

Reliance said that ‘the transaction is expected to take place by the end of March 2022 and is subject to the satisfaction of certain customary regulatory and other approvals and certain other conditions.

Mukesh Ambani bought a luxurious 5-star hotel: This is the second acquisition of the iconic hotel by Reliance in less than a year.

In April last year, Britain’s first iconic country club and golf resort, Stoke Park, was bought for £57 million, or Rs 592 crore.

In April last year, Reliance acquired Stoke Park Ltd in the UK, where two James Bond films have been shot.

New York’s Mandarin Oriental enjoys global recognition and has won impressive awards including the AAA Five Diamond Hotel, the Forbes Five Star Hotel, and the Forbes Five Star Spa.

According to Reliance filings, its revenue stood at USD 115 million in 2018, USD 113 million in 2019, and USD 15 million in 2020.
