Mehbooba Mufti’s Mother Did Not Appear Before ED
Mehbooba Mufti’s mother did not appear before ED, wrote a letter asking in which case to be questioned: Terror Funding.
Gulshan Nazir, mother of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, did not appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning on Wednesday.
She was supposed to reach the ED’s local office at 11 am today. If her family sources are to be believed, Gulshan Nazir had written a letter to the ED.
She had informed about the whole matter, in respect of which she has been called for questioning. The ED has not responded to this letter.
Let us tell you that earlier on April 15, the Enforcement Directorate had also called Mehbooba Mufti’s mother for questioning.
She did not appear for questioning at that time due to being quarantined at home. After this, this inquiry was postponed in the circumstances arising out of the second wave of Covid-19 intensifying.
Mehbooba Mufti was also questioned by the Enforcement Directorate officials for five and a half hours on April 25 in the same case.
ED officials carrying a notice to former Chief Minister Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s wife Gulshan Nazir at her official residence.
This happened hours after the PDP refused to meet with the Delimitation Commission, who visited J&K on July 6 last week. She was asked to appear for questioning at ED’s Srinagar office on July 14.
Today Gulshan Nazir was supposed to reach the ED office, but she did not reach.
Sources concerned said that he had written a letter to the ED seeking full details of the case in which he is being asked to appear for questioning.
No reply has been received for this. The notice that was sent to her only said that she was to be interrogated in a case registered under the Money Laundering Act.
No information has been provided regarding the FIR of this case or the allegations of financial transactions on which they have to answer. So she did not go to the ED office.
Relevant sources said that she would be questioned in the money laundering case.
The case has been registered on the basis of two diaries recovered during raids at the house of an alleged aide of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
These diaries contain details of payments made in violation of rules from the Chief Minister’s Privilege Fund. This amount has been allocated only during the rule of PDP in Jammu and Kashmir.
A few lakh rupees have also been transferred from this fund to the accounts of Gulshan Nazir and some others. In this context, the Enforcement Directorate wants to inquire.
Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has strongly condemned the notice issued by the ED to her mother.
She said that the Enforcement Directorate has asked my mother to appear on the charges which are untraceable.
This is in a way an attempt by the Indian government to suppress its political opponents.
The government of India is using institutions like NIA and Enforcement Directorate as a weapon against its opponents.
